Riding Lessons
Riding lessons are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am to 6pm. We cater for all levels of riders from beginners to advanced, nervous riders and riders wanting to get back into the saddle from a long break are more than welcome.
Our school horses are quiet, reliable well schooled mounts that have been with us for many years our schoolies are very important in making your riding experience with us a fantastic one.
We take every care to ensure all our riders receive quality coaching to enable you to develop your skills in a friendly, fun and supportive environment.
We also welcome riders to join us on their own horse to improve riding skills and training of the horse. It’s a fantastic way to work through improving the green horse or just getting out to ride with different people in a new environment.
The prices for horse lessons are as follows (all inclusive of GST):
- 30 minute private lesson $60.50
- 1 hour private lesson $90.00
- 1 hour group lesson $65.00
Adult Lessons
Our Tuesday and Thursday mornings are dedicated to our adult riders with groups available at 9, 10 and 11 am. With positions available during these hours for ½ hour and 1hour private lessons. Adult riding is a great way to get fit and meet new people who all enjoy and share a passion for horses. We also have lots of laughs!
For the Little Ones
Our minimum age for riders participating in lessons is five years or the year they turn five in. If you have younger riders wishing to do a more formal lesson working towards lead line classes these can be arranged.
Booking Your First Lesson
When booking your first lesson at Oriel Park Equestrian Centre payment is made at the time of booking for this lesson in full. Payments can be made via credit card over the phone or in person, by direct bank transfer or cash/cheque payments can be made in person prior to the lesson day.
Lesson spots will not be booked and held for you unless the payment is made; payments made by direct bank transfer, we kindly ask to have the bank payment slip emailed to us directly to confirm your payment as sometimes payments do not show in accounts for some days. After you attend your first lesson if you wish to rebook for a second time this lesson must be paid for before you leave, again to hold and confirm your place. These two lessons allow you the time to get to know us, our lovely staff and horses and decide if you wish to commit to a riding term, hopefully the answer is yes!
Continued Lessons
As you have now decided to continue riding with us your lesson payments will now change, all riding lessons are booked and paid for in blocks of 10. A pre-payment card is made up for you which records the date of the payment, contact details and when you attended each lesson. These cards are filed under your surname and kept at Oriel Park, payments for the 10 lessons can be made in one singular payment or over 4 weeks in two smaller sized payments. Riders attending fortnightly lessons must pay for 1/2 their riding term in one full payment. If you enjoyed your first riding term at Oriel Park and wish to continue through the following terms your next payment of 10 lessons will be due on your 10th lesson day.
Cancelations
At Oriel Park we have a "Non Cancelation Policy" which means if you are sick or away your prepayment card will still be signed off for the date of the lesson that you missed. You can have your missed lesson as a "make up" lesson within your 10 week riding term. Which means you can ride on a different day and time from your usual spot and have two lessons in the same week or for fortnightly riders you would ride on your fortnight away week.
Cancelled make up lessons are not re-issued as another make up, this lesson is counted as lost.
Missed or cancelled lessons cannot be carried forward as make up lessons from your 10th riding lesson.
If you choose to cancel your first lesson, we do not issue refunds, subsequent future bookings will also require payment.
We do not issue refunds for riders choosing to no longer participate in lessons part way through a paid riding term.
School Holidays
Oriel Park runs lessons throughout the year, we do not stop riding lessons during term holiday breaks. The only time we are not available for lessons is when our last lessons finish just before Christmas. January is used for school holiday camps only, lessons will resume as normal at the beginning of February, if you know your going to be away during a term holiday break its a good idea to try and fit your make up lessons in before you go away as your pre-payment card will still be signed off.
